Outstation road-trip checklist when you hire a driver
Handing the wheel to a professional makes a long drive far more relaxing — but a little preparation still goes a long way. Here’s what to sort before an outstation trip.
Documents
- Registration Certificate (RC), valid insurance and PUC certificate — physical or on DigiLocker.
- FASTag with enough balance for tolls on your route.
- Any state entry tax or permit your route requires.
Car checks
- Tyre pressure, including the spare, plus a working jack.
- Engine oil, coolant and wiper fluid topped up.
- Brakes and lights working; AC serviced for summer trips.
Plan the journey
- Agree the route and rough timings with your driver before you set off.
- Plan rest breaks every couple of hours — drivers need them too.
- For hill routes, avoid driving after dark where possible.
- Confirm the driver’s stay and meals arrangement for multi-day trips.
Stay safe on the way
- Use trip sharing from the Ritzy app’s safety toolkit so family can follow along.
- Keep valuables out of sight when you stop.
- The SOS button and 24/7 support work for the whole journey.
Outstation journeys, scheduled rides and round trips are booked in the Ritzy app — Google Play · App Store.
